What Does NAAQS Stand For?
NAAQS stands for National Ambient Air Quality Standards
NAAQS, or National Ambient Air Quality Standards, are regulations established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that set permissible levels for specific air pollutants. These standards aim to protect public health and the environment by ensuring that air quality remains safe and conducive to human well-being. NAAQS apply to six key pollutants: particulate matter, ozone, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and lead. The standards are reviewed periodically to reflect new scientific knowledge and technological advances.
