What Does ANCA Stand For?

ANCA stands for Anti Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies

ANCA, or Anti Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies, refers to a group of autoantibodies directed against components of neutrophil cytoplasm. These antibodies are primarily associated with autoimmune disorders, particularly small-vessel vasculitis, and can be indicative of conditions such as granulomatosis with polyangiitis and microscopic polyangiitis. The presence and type of ANCA can aid in diagnosis, monitoring disease activity, and guiding treatment decisions in affected patients.
