What Does BPAI Stand For?

BPAI stands for Board Of Patent Appeals And Interferences

The Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences (BPAI) was an adjudicative body within the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) that handled appeals of patent examiner decisions regarding patent applications and interferences, which are disputes over the priority of inventions. BPAI provided a platform for inventors and applicants to contest rejections and asserted rights, promoting fair and efficient resolution of patent-related disputes. In 2012, BPAI was restructured and its functions were integrated into the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).
