What Does CEA Stand For?
CEA stands for Carcinoembryonic Antigen
CEA, or Carcinoembryonic Antigen, is a glycoprotein that is typically present at low levels in the blood of healthy adults. It is primarily used as a tumor marker to monitor treatment response and disease recurrence in certain cancers, particularly colorectal cancer, but can also be elevated in other malignancies and some benign conditions. Measuring CEA levels is important in clinical practice to aid in cancer management and assessment.
