What Does CINEOS Stand For?
CINEOS stands for Campo Imperatore Near Earth Objects Survey
CINEOS, or Campo Imperatore Near Earth Objects Survey, is a scientific initiative focused on the detection, tracking, and characterization of near-Earth objects (NEOs). Situated at the Campo Imperatore Observatory, this survey employs advanced observational techniques and state-of-the-art instrumentation to enhance our understanding of the dynamics and potential risks associated with asteroids and comets that approach Earth's orbit. By analyzing the trajectories and physical properties of these celestial bodies, CINEOS aims to contribute to planetary defense efforts and promote awareness of NEO-related hazards.
