What Does CMML Stand For?

CMML stands for Chronic MyeloMonocytic Leukemia

Chronic MyeloMonocytic Leukemia (CMML) is a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer characterized by the abnormal proliferation of monocyte and myeloid cells in the bone marrow and blood. It presents features of both leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes, often leading to a range of symptoms, including fatigue, fever, and splenomegaly. CMML primarily affects older adults and may require a combination of chemotherapy, targeted therapies, or stem cell transplantation for treatment. Due to its complexity, diagnosis and management typically involve a multidisciplinary approach.
