What Does CRH Stand For?

CRH stands for Corticotropin Releasing Hormone

Corticotropin Releasing Hormone (CRH) is a peptide hormone produced by the hypothalamus that plays a critical role in the body's stress response. It stimulates the release of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) from the anterior pituitary gland, which in turn prompts the adrenal glands to produce cortisol. CRH is involved in various physiological processes, including stress adaptation, immune response regulation, and the modulation of mood and behavior. Dysregulation of CRH signaling is implicated in various disorders, including anxiety, depression, and other stress-related conditions.
