What Does ECHR Stand For?

ECHR stands for European Convention On Human Rights

The European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) is an international treaty established in 1950 to protect human rights and fundamental freedoms across Europe. It lays down various civil and political rights, including the right to life, prohibition of torture, and the right to a fair trial. The ECHR is overseen by the European Court of Human Rights, which interprets the convention and adjudicates cases brought by individuals, groups, or states alleging violations of the rights enshrined in the treaty.
