What Does ELDO Stand For?
ELDO stands for European Launcher Development Organisation
The European Launcher Development Organisation (ELDO) was established in the early 1960s with the objective of developing and launching space vehicles for Europe. Comprising member states from across Europe, ELDO aimed to foster collaboration in space technology and to enhance Europe’s capabilities in the space race. Although the organization was eventually dissolved in 1980 due to various challenges, its legacy contributed to the foundation of subsequent European space initiatives, including the establishment of the European Space Agency (ESA), which continues to advance Europe’s interests in space exploration and satellite technology.
