ERCP stands for Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography
ERCP, or Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography, is a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure that combines endoscopy and fluoroscopy to visualize the biliary and pancreatic ducts. During the procedure, a flexible endoscope is inserted through the mouth and into the duodenum, where a contrast dye is injected into the ducts. This allows for imaging to identify blockages, stones, or other abnormalities, and facilitates interventions such as stone removal or stent placement.
