What Does ESU Stand For?
ESU stands for Electrostatic Unit
The Electrostatic Unit (ESU) is a system of measurement used in electrostatics to quantify electric charge, electric field strength, and electric potential. It is part of the centimeter-gram-second (CGS) unit system, where one ESU of charge is defined as the amount of charge that, when placed at a distance of one centimeter from an identical charge in a vacuum, will repel it with a force of one dyne. The ESU is primarily used in theoretical physics and engineering contexts related to electrostatic phenomena.
