What Does FMLA Stand For?
FMLA stands for Family And Medical Leave Act
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is a federal law that entitles eligible employees to take unpaid, job-protected leave for specified family and medical reasons. This act allows individuals to take up to 12 weeks of leave in a 12-month period for circumstances such as the birth or adoption of a child, the care of a spouse or family member with a serious health condition, or their own serious health condition. Employers are required to maintain the employee's health benefits during the leave and restore them to their original position or an equivalent role upon their return.
