What Does GMR Stand For?
GMR stands for Giant Magnetoresistance
Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR) is a quantum mechanical phenomenon observed in thin film structures made of alternating layers of ferromagnetic and non-magnetic materials. It is characterized by a significant change in electrical resistance in response to an applied magnetic field. GMR has important applications in data storage technologies, particularly in read heads of hard disk drives and magnetic sensors, enabling higher storage densities and improved performance.
