HGP stands for Human Genome Project
The Human Genome Project (HGP) was an international scientific research initiative aimed at mapping and understanding all the genes of the human species. Launched in 1990 and completed in 2003, the HGP successfully sequenced the approximately 3 billion DNA base pairs that make up the human genome. This landmark project has significantly advanced our knowledge of genetics, paving the way for breakthroughs in medicine, biotechnology, and our understanding of genetic diseases and human biology.
