What Does ICCE Stand For?

ICCE stands for Intracapsular Cataract Extraction

ICCE, or Intracapsular Cataract Extraction, is a surgical procedure used to remove a cataract, which is a clouding of the lens of the eye. During this technique, both the cataract and the lens capsule are extracted together, typically through a larger incision compared to modern methods. ICCE is less commonly performed today due to advances in surgical techniques, such as phacoemulsification, which allows for the preservation of the lens capsule and usually results in quicker recovery and reduced complications.
