What Does IEF Stand For?
IEF stands for Isoelectric Focusing
IEF, or Isoelectric Focusing, is a powerful electrophoretic technique used to separate proteins and other charged biomolecules based on their isoelectric points (pI). During this process, molecules migrate through a pH gradient until they reach a position where their net charge is zero, effectively allowing for high-resolution separation. IEF is widely utilized in proteomics, biotechnology, and clinical diagnostics for analyzing complex protein mixtures, studying protein interactions, and characterizing post-translational modifications.
