What Does MTJ Stand For?
MTJ stands for Magnetic Tunnel Junction
Magnetic Tunnel Junction (MTJ) is a semiconductor device that consists of two ferromagnetic layers separated by a thin insulating barrier. This structure enables electron tunneling between the ferromagnetic layers, allowing the junction to exhibit different electrical resistance states depending on the magnetic alignment of the layers. MTJs are fundamental components in spintronics, providing a basis for non-volatile memory technologies (such as MRAM) and advanced logic devices, due to their ability to retain information without power and their fast switching speeds.
