What Does NASH Stand For?
NASH stands for Non Alcoholic SteatoHepatitis
NASH, or Non-Alcoholic SteatoHepatitis, is a progressive liver condition characterized by the accumulation of fat in the liver, accompanied by inflammation and liver cell damage, in individuals who consume little to no alcohol. It is often associated with obesity, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. NASH can lead to serious complications such as fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma, making early diagnosis and management crucial for preventing long-term liver disease.
