What Does NHE Stand For?

NHE stands for Normal Hydrogen Electrode

The Normal Hydrogen Electrode (NHE) is a reference electrode used in electrochemistry to establish a standard for measuring electrode potentials. It consists of a platinum electrode in contact with a solution of 1 M hydrogen ions, wherein hydrogen gas is bubbled at a pressure of 1 atmosphere. The NHE is assigned a standard electrode potential of 0 volts at standard conditions, serving as a baseline for the comparison of other electrodes in various electrochemical experiments.
