NIMA, or the National Imagery and Mapping Agency, was a former organization of the United States government responsible for providing geospatial intelligence and mapping services. Established to enhance national security and support military operations, NIMA played a key role in imagery analysis and the production of maps. In 2003, NIMA was restructured and replaced by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), which continues to fulfill its mission with a focus on advanced geospatial data and intelligence support.
