What Does ODS Stand For?

ODS stands for Ozone Depleting Substances

ODS, or Ozone Depleting Substances, refer to a group of manufactured chemicals that contribute to the depletion of the ozone layer in the Earth's stratosphere. These substances, primarily chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), halons, and other related compounds, have been widely used in refrigeration, air conditioning, foam production, and aerosol propellants. Due to their detrimental effects on ozone concentration, international efforts, such as the Montreal Protocol, have been established to phase out the production and consumption of ODS, aiming to protect the ozone layer and, consequently, the global environment.
