What Does SM Stand For?
SM stands for Samarium
Samarium (Sm) is a chemical element with the atomic number 62. It is a silvery-white metal belonging to the lanthanide series of the periodic table. Samarium is known for its magnetic, optical, and catalytic properties and is primarily used in the production of strong permanent magnets, as well as in nuclear reactors and certain types of glasses. Due to its relatively low abundance and high melting point, samarium is considered a rare earth element and is often extracted from minerals such as monazite and bastnäsite.
