What Does SPR Stand For?
SPR stands for Surface Plasmon Resonance
Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) is an advanced optical technique used to measure the interaction between biomolecules in real-time. It exploits the resonance of surface plasmons, which are coherent delocalized electron oscillations that occur at the interface between a metal and a dielectric. SPR enables the detection of changes in the refractive index near the sensor surface, allowing for high sensitivity in monitoring binding events, such as protein-protein interactions, antigen-antibody formations, and other molecular interactions. This technique is widely utilized in biochemical research, drug discovery, and biosensor development due to its label-free detection capabilities and fast response times.
