TER stands for Total External Reflection
Total External Reflection (TER) is a phenomenon that occurs when a wave, such as light, travels from a medium with a higher refractive index to one with a lower refractive index at an angle greater than the critical angle. Under these conditions, the wave is completely reflected back into the denser medium rather than being refracted. TER is widely utilized in various optical applications, including fiber optics and imaging systems, enabling efficient light transmission and manipulation.
