What Does HPV Stand For?
HPV stands for Human Papiloma Virus
HPV, or Human Papilloma Virus, is a group of more than 200 related viruses, some of which can cause genital warts and various types of cancer, including cervical, anal, and oropharyngeal cancers. HPV is primarily transmitted through direct skin-to-skin contact during sexual activity. While many HPV infections are asymptomatic and resolve on their own, persistent infections with high-risk HPV types can lead to serious health complications. Vaccination and regular screening are key preventive measures against HPV-related diseases.
